Slice #17
Autumnal goth, current reads and the colour of the season...
Hello, I usually give myself plenty of time to write this, but I got back from Spain last week and found myself under pressure to get this one out on schedule! We’re well and truly in the swing of Autumn now, and I hope you’re ready to enjoy all things cosy and spooky for the month of October. Below, you’ll find a few fashion trends that are dominating the season, along with 5 things I’ve enjoyed this month that will stop you from scrolling.
‘til next time! x
Trending…
Think of chartreuse as Brat Green’s older and more sophisticated sister. Perfect with autumn’s chocolate browns and deep purples, she’s an unexpected shade that fits surprisingly well into this season’s colour palette. I love Asos’ fluffy cardi and these barrel-leg trousers from Stel. Unsure? Add a subtle chartreuse hit to your fit with Dune’s woven ballet flats or some green jewels.
Wearing…
This season’s goth is more chic than scary. Think lace, ruffles, sheer fabrics and Victorian details with a pretty edge. Take inspo from Dior and layer a white shirt with a dramatic collar and cuffs, or invest in some lace sleeves like these from Hyphen that can be worn under pretty much anything. Don’t forget your stomping boots and a pair of black sunnies to add a bit of mystery to your look…
The crust…
5 things I’ve enjoyed this month 🫶
Margo’s Got Money Troubles - Rufi Thorpe – I buy a lot of books without really knowing what I’m picking up, and when I bought this one, I had no clue it was about a young mum’s foray into the world of OnlyFans with a side theme of WWE wrestling. I really enjoyed parts of this, and others I found oddly specific, but I read it fast, so I’d say it’s worth a read.
The Map That Leads to You, Prime – They don’t make rom-coms like they used to, but The Map That Leads to You *almost* feels like a noughties rom-com…without the com. Set in Spain and Italy, it’ll make you want to spend a summer backpacking around Europe, even though you’re way too old. If you need a post-TSITP fix, this is it.
Eight Coffee Co., Glasgow – I’ve watched Hannah, owner of Eight Coffee Co., on TikTok for a while now, so I jumped at the chance to join a 30-minute queue (the result of TikToking too close to the sun) for my iced latte when I was at the Barras on Sunday morning. I’m a straight-up coffee gal, but if you like your seasonal drinks or syrup-y matches, there are loads to choose from! Get yourself to their Barras truck or their store on Victoria Road.
Only Murders in the Building, Disney+ – I’m a bit late to the game with this one, considering season 5 is out, but I’ve just started watching from the start, and I’m enjoying! Set in New York, light humour, low stakes and 30-minute eps – it makes for easy autumn viewing.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, V.E. Schwab – In 1714, Addie promises her soul to The Devil in return for eternal freedom, but at what cost? And what’s the reality of a life where you can’t leave a mark, even 300 years later? I’m currently halfway through this one and I’m gripped!

Totally addicted to only murders too!
You will rock autumnal goth! 🖤🍁
