Argyle knits, chocolate brown and a retro brunch spot...
Hi!
It’s November, which means it’s officially time to hibernate until February. If you HAVE to go outside, I suggest you look at these trending chocolate brown pieces and cosy argyle knits. If not, I’m guessing you’ll need something to replace the Traitors’-shaped hole in your life. Luckily, you’ll find plenty to keep you occupied below.
‘Til December! xxx
Trending…
Unleash your sweet tooth, because chocolate brown is trending right now. Saint Laurent and Burberry both broke fashion rules by styling brown with black, while Prada paired dark mahogany leather with canary yellow. Go tonal with other sweet neutrals like caramel and cream, or play with unexpected colour combos like brown with rich purple or lime green. The high street is full of amazing pieces from Massimo Dutti, Arket and Cos, and don’t sleep on this dupe of Alaïa’s East-West bag by Oreela.
Wearing…
No longer confined to the golf course, argyle knits were seen on the runways of Khaite, Valentino, Ferragamo and more, making the preppy diamond print the go-to sweater of the season. Style your knit with a pleated mini and loafers like Maeve, or give an argyle tank a quirky twist with an oversized collared shirt and some corduroy trousers. Add a pop of colour to a drab winter look with some bright socks by Damson Madder and an XL scarf from Essentiel Antwerp.
The crust…
5 things to enjoy this month 🫶🏻
Selfish Girls, Abigail Bergstrom – Selfish Girls follows the tense dynamics and toxicity between three sisters and their mother at key family events over the course of their lives. It covers eating disorders, mental health problems and rivalry between the people you’re closest to. I love character-driven books, and I’ve absolutely inhaled this one.
Tell Me Lies, BBC – Continuing with the toxicity theme, Tell Me Lies follows six students as they form friendships and relationships and are generally horrible to each other during their time at uni. I can’t say anything more or I’ll risk spoilers, but tell me why this came out in 2022 and I’m just hearing about it now?! It’s SO good.
Queens Diner, Glasgow – Ok, so the Southside doesn’t exactly have a shortage of brunch spots, but Battlefield was lacking somewhere that wasn’t JUST coffee and pastries. Queens Diner is a new gem, found on the old Grain & Grind site, offering diner classics like sausage bagels and chicken and waffles. The branding is strong on this one, and everything from the logo mugs and plates to the old Glasgow subway seats feels cohesive. The retro playlist will also have you dancing while you eat your hash browns.
Lily Allen, West End Girl – if airing dirty laundry was an album, it would sound a lot like West End Girl. Lily’s new autobiographical album was written and recorded in 10 days and is basically a journal entry about her ex-husband, Stranger Things’ David Harbour and his infidelity. Shocking, catchy, but still empowering; try to listen to the lyrics without your jaw dropping to the floor. 👀
Nobody Wants This, Netflix – After a month of watching a conniving TV show, reading about toxic sisters and listening to the downfall of David Harbour, I’m using season 2 of Netflix’s Nobody Wants This as a welcome palette cleanser. Does Joanne convert to Judaism for The Hot Rabbi? I’m guessing yes…
