Hello! This month was spent holiday planning, drinking al fresco and finally enjoying some sunshine. It’s unofficially the first day of summer tomorrow (June equals summer, no?) which means it’s time to enjoy the long days, light nights and watch Love Island. 👀 Hope you enjoy this month’s slice, it features new season fashion updates (hello kitten heels and bold jewels), summer makeup and more <3

Kitten heels
Never thought I’d see the day, but here we are. Kitten heels are well and truly in. Maybe it’s the Prada effect; maybe we’re all so used to wearing trainers that kitten heels are all we can handle now? Either way, this season keep your shoes pointed (ideally with a slingback) and roughly 5cms off the ground. These ASOS ones are ideal for the girlies who dream of Miu Miu but don’t have the bank account to back it up. I’ve invested in silver but they also come in white and cherry red.

My coffee game
I’ve recently become the owner of a Smeg espresso machine and, as they say, with great power comes great responsibility, so I’ve had to level up my coffee game and the accessories to go with it. I started by investing in these cute splatter mugs by Oliver Bonas (below👇), opted for ground coffee from Edinburgh roasters Ride and Grind and, of course, a bag of Marchtown blend from Grain and Grind Glasgow. For iced coffee, I’ll be using my beloved blue tumbler from Late Afternoon (which never fails to bring me joy), paired with a cute, glass bow straw from Luna Nera Designs on Etsy. Alexa, play Espresso…

Rose girl makeup
We’ve had cherry girl, latte girl, glazed doughnut skin and more, but for me, the makeup trend for summer is Rose Girl (you heard it here first). Heavy makeup feels wrong when the sun is shining, so reach for products in easy-to-wear blush tones and shades of pink. My current blush of choice is Tower 28 Luminous Tinted Balm in Magic Hour, paired with Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Liner in the shade Pink Candy on the lips. I’ll also be giving my nails the floral treatment with a romantic rosy polish – Manicurist Bois de Rose Natural Polish is the vibe.
brunching at…
Lagom Bakery, Glasgow
This place opened on Great Western Road at the start of May and is inspired by Australian brunch spots. Expect colourful brunch bowls, chunky breakfast bagels and Instagrammable drinks decorated with flowers. What’s not to love? The restaurant is bright and airy with loads of space (an unusual find in the West End!) – they don’t take bookings, but if you’re out of luck their sister café Serendipity is just along the road and is also great!

Chunky jewellery
Delicate jewels have had their time to shine, but this summer, it’s all about statement and colourful styles. Bold jewellery choices add a fun quirkiness to your look in a way that a simple gold chain could never. Think chunky, geometric earrings in primary colours, layered pendants and rings in fun shapes with bright, enamel details. I’m taking inspo from NY-based Creator @chelseaasoflate whose outfits spark joy and make me want to be bolder with my sartorial choices. Jewellery is always a great place to start.
