Hi, it’s well and truly autumn…and I kind of feel ready for it (even though I’m off to Spain this week). But when I’m back I’ll be fully ready to embrace layers and accept that I need to start stocking up on vitamin D supplements. This month, I’ve been trying to embrace small joys, so below, you’ll find a few things that have added ‘glimmers’ to my day! 🤩

Zara trainers
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Zara. I’ll find things I love, see everyone wearing it, then I’ll buy nothing for a year. HOWEVER…Zara trainers are trainer-ing right now! They have dupes of literally every popular style – Sambas, Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66, Adidas x Wales Bonner and even the New Balance x Miu Miu collab! And with most styles priced around £35.99, it’s the perfect chance to get the look for less without splurging over £100 on new sneaks. I’ve picked up a blue samba dupe and a sporty white pair to wear with straight-leg jeans this autumn.

The Devil’s Roast, Glasgow
Glasgow City Centre needed another cool, independent coffee place, so when cocktail bar Devil of Brooklyn announced that it was opening as a coffee shop during the day (under the name The Devil’s Roast), I knew this would be a new go-to spot. The rustic bar serves as the perfect aesthetic backdrop (complete with candles lit for spooky season), while an array of sweet treats and pastries are displayed on the counter. Grab a coffee and a cake the next time you’re passing, then pop back for a cocktail after hours.
adding to skincare routine…
Florence by Mills Clarifying Mud Mask
I had been looking for a new mud mask to try and settled on the Clear the Way Mask by Florence by Mills — which I’m pretty sure is Millie Bobby Brown’s beauty line. This wasn’t a deciding factor in my purchase, but the fact it contains decent ingredients like salicylic acid, charcoal powder and essential oils was. The consistency is a thick, grey paste, and it does tingle a bit when you first put it on. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water for noticeably smoother, glowing skin. This is a once-a-week addition to my skincare routine that I’m really enjoying!

Brown bags
If you keep an eye on new season trends, you’ll know the big accessory for autumn/winter is a brown suede bag. Kickstarted by Prada, a shoulder bag in warm, brown leather is the only bag to be carrying right now. However, I’ve seen so many fashion sites harping on about brown suede, I’m starting to wonder if we’ll be sick of the trend before it’s even started. I think I’ll opt for dark brown leather in a more structured shape, rather than suede. And if you don’t have the cash to splash on Prada (that makes all of us?) I recommend looking at & Other Stories, Cos and H&M for some excellent new season bits. But I will be copying the Prada styling and wearing it with an oversized bomber like this 👇

Cosmopolitans
As a teen of the Sex and the City era, I started drinking Cosmos à la Carrie as soon as I was old enough to order them. I didn’t care what they tasted like, I just wanted THAT pink liquid in THAT glass. Time passed, my taste changed and I stopped drinking them (because most places make them badly, and if there’s even a hint of syrupy sweetness, I’m out). But recently, on a trip to Greece, I took a chance and ordered the Noughties classic…and it reignited my love! When they’re balanced and sour I understand why Carrie loved them so much. In her words, “This is delicious. Why did we ever stop drinking these?!”
